St.
Ignatius Church
If you are new to
the area or are unsure about which church to go to...
Try them out! Do what the early
Russians did when they
were trying to figure out which church they wanted to adopt for their nation: they went around to different
churches and found that they liked the Orthodox best (over Catholic, Jewish
and Muslim) because the Church of Holy
Wisdom in Constantinople was so grand that the Russian representatives knew
it must be the real thing. In all fairness, they did not
go to Rome, the Jews were well dispersed by the 800s and Islam
was an aggressive neighbor. The point is they chose.
So, on Sunday morning, go visit some of the churches,
as all will surely welcome
you, and see for yourself. Be a church-tourist in your own hometown.
Christians
have many denominations, but, as in our national motto, E Pluribus
Unum, all are all united in one Lord, God, which is, of course, the most important thing. The largest
church in town is St. Ignatius
of Antioch, on the
north side of Tarpon Ave. just west of US 19.
Palm Harbor Parish is part of the
Diocese of St. Petersburg, which
is part of the
Archdiocese of Miami. The
Church is based in the Vatican, Rome.

Some Common Prayers
THE NICENE CREED (1,600 years old, spoken today
by Catholics):
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker
of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in one
Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the
Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, one in being with the Father. Through Him all
things were made. For us men and our salvation He came down from
heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died,
and was buried. On the third day He Rose Again in fulfillment of the
scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of
the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the
dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who
proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son, He
is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We acknowledge
one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection
of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

CHRISTMAS CAROL
O Holy night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night, of our dear
Saviour's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Till He
appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world
rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees!
Oh hear the angels voices! Oh night divine! Oh night when Christ was
born! Oh night divine! Oh night! Oh night divine!
Chains shall He
break for the slave is our brother, and in His name all oppression shall
cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we; Let all within us
praise His holy name. Christ is the Lord, that ever, ever praise we. Noel!
Noel! Oh night;oh night, oh night divine! Noel! Noel! Oh night; oh night divine!
Noel! Noel! Oh night; oh night divine!
People in East Lake are free to worship as they wish. If you are a cult leader like Joneses, or the Branch Davidians,
or the Comet Hale Bopp worshippers, well, even you are free. For the majority
of us, our freedom of faith is not under any large scale assult. Of course, we have
not always been so lucky:
Below is an artistic rendering
of Jerusalem in Biblical times.
Here we see the original Temple of Solomon
of the Old Testament,
By glory, a place close to Heaven
if our Earth indeed has one!

And here is Jerusalem today:

What a city. This is the place at the core of today's major
world events. The crucible.
The Dome of the Rock is the golden building, a Muslim Mosque
built in the Seventh Century
over the ruins of Solomon's Temple which was destroyed, except
for the Western Wall.
